Have you always wanted to learn how to leverage the Cloud to solve problems, innovate collaboratively, and create awesome applications? Well, now is your chance! In cooperation with Google, we at FTL are throwing another awesome Hackathon for tackling Data, Infrastructure and Machine Learning challenges.
As always, there will be food, drinks and interesting talks to get your inspiration flowing, so that you can hack in the cloud for the two full days at the Google office in Munich.
During this Hackathon, FTL and Google invite you to learn and use your imagination to create amazing solutions, using the Google Cloud Platform and Google Cloud Study Jams.
What’s a Google Cloud Study Jam?
A Study Jam is a collective learning program combining practical developer experience with Google Cloud expertise. With a Cloud Study Jam, you will learn the fundamental tools and capabilities of Google Cloud and use them to hack your own cool project! You will of course have the support of Googlers from the Munich office as well!
Attendees will receive free access to hands-on labs via Qwiklabs, which mirrors a real-life working environment. You will be able to choose any of the tracks:
Infrastructure & Architecture
Machine Learning & Data
After the Hackathon, you will get automatically one month access to Qwiklabs and a Google Cloud badge you can add to your Linkedin.
Places in the Hackathon are limited and are allocated on a first come first serve basis, so make sure to sign up fast to secure your spot! But keep in mind that medium to advanced knowledge is expected, namely, proficiency with a programming language and basic cloud computing knowledge. The assumption is that the participants will have a preferred programming language and can perform basic tasks with it. Cloud basics will not be introduced.
About Google Cloud:
Groundbreaking solutions and transformative know-how. Whether a business is early in its journey or well on its way to digital transformation, Google Cloud's robust set of solutions and technologies helps chart a path to success. At Google we love to innovate — and help you do the same. Whether taking advantage of embedded AI and ML, or leveraging Google innovation in Digital Assistant, Search, Maps, Voice, and more, enterprises in every industry are innovating using Google technology advances that we embed and integrate in Google Cloud.
The specific agenda will be uploaded in the coming weeks but we promise you that it’s gonna be legen… wait for it… dary!
What are the hours? The Hackathon will take place during the working hours from 9:00 - 22:00 both days. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to stay the night at the Munich Google office.
Do I need to prepare anything in advance? No, all work will be done at the Hackathon. Although you can already familiarise yourself with GCP via coursera, pluralsight or other online learning platform.
I have no cloud or coding experience, can I still sign up? A basic understanding how cloud technologies work is needed as cloud basics will not be introduced.
How proficient do I need to be in coding? We assume that the participants know at least one programming language and can perform basic tasks with it.
I have to work during the day and I am not sure if I will be able to get the time off, how do I convince my boss? Cloud computing is used daily across nearly every industry. Expanding your knowledge of the technology while working together with Google's world-class infrastructure, secure and robust set of solutions has the potential to help you and your company in the future to build, operate, and grow your business in today's complex, multi-cloud environment.
What do I need to bring? Laptop, chargers, dongles (to present your awesome solution), yoga matt & yoga clothing (optional), a good mood and yourself.
