AI and Robotics to be precise.

After two weeks of Octoberfest it is time to reactivate our brain and to use our heads again. On October 16th Microsoft opens its doors for another Speaker Night. Join us for a fun night full of inspiring tech talks, time to adress tech questions, networking and interesting conversations with other passionate tech lovers while enjoying a delicious buffet. This time we want to talk about a really relevant, spearhead of tech topic: Artificial Intelligence and robotics. We are welcoming the following three fascinating speakers who will each reflect both their academic as well as their industrial experience in these fields.

Olivia Klose, Microsoft
Olivia Klose is a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Commercial Software Engineering group at Microsoft. Here she codes with customers in the Manufacturing & Automotive space on Machine Learning and Deep Learning problems. In her prior role as a Technical Evangelist she focussed on all analytics services on Microsoft Azure.
Olivia is a frequent speaker at German and international conferences, including Strata NY, TechEd Europe and PASS Summit. Prior to joining Microsoft, she studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, the Technical University of Munich, and IIT Bombay, with a focus on Machine Learning in Medical Imaging.

Costanza Conforti, University of Cambridge - Siemens Machine Intelligence Group
Costanza is a second-year PhD student in Natural Language Processing at the University of Cambridge, where she works on Rumor Diffusion and other semantics-related tasks.
Since 2017, she is working with the Siemens Machine Intelligence group in Munich on a range of industrial applications of Natural Language Processing.
Previously, she worked on Neural Machine Translation in Prof. Alex Fraser's group (LMU) and at Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK).
Costanza also enjoys scientific divulgation and is a strong supporter of the promotion of diversity in STEM.
In her talk, she will give an introduction to the applications of Natural Language Processing in Fake News Detection.

Alona Kharchenko, TU München
Alona is a PhD candidate at TUM conducting research on neurorobotics as a part of the Human Brain Project. She is a team lead at the Roboy Team, a team behind Roboy as a completely open-source platform encapsulating research, development, and education in robotics and AI. She is an enthusiastic robotics engineer, who draws inspiration from nature to develop seamless interfaces between people and robots.

The whole evening will be introduced by Masa Matejic, who is the Modern Workplace Lead, Customer Success at Microsoft Germany. She acts as a strong advocate for greater inclusion and, in particular, equal opportunities for women and men at work. Amongst others, she heads the Women@Microsoft network in Germany.
